The Baywood guide

Yorkshire,
slowly.

A few of our favourite ways to spend a day: old villages, open moorland, good food and the pleasure of not rushing back.

From our doorstep

The best days here leave a little room for chance.

Baywood sits in Cowling, on the southern edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Haworth and Brontë country are close enough for a morning out; footpaths, field lanes and open views begin much nearer. Choose one thing, take the long way there and come back before the light goes.

Three ways to spend the day

No itinerary required.

Check local opening details and walking conditions before setting out — then leave the rest of the day open.

01

Take the old road to Haworth

Go without a list. Wander the cobbles, browse the bookshops and leave enough time for coffee before heading onto the moors. The village rewards an unhurried pace.

02

Walk until the view opens up

From the fields around Cowling, footpaths climb towards wide skies and long Dales views. Pack a flask, wear proper boots and let the weather decide how far you go.

03

Bring something good home

Pick up bread, cheese and something sweet from the villages you pass. Supper tastes better eaten on the deck, with nowhere else to be that evening.

The best bit

Coming back.

Boots by the door. The wood burner lit. Something easy for supper and the valley disappearing into dusk. A day out in Yorkshire should end with an evening that belongs entirely to you.
